NEC Members

The NEC has vowed to not only protect the rights, welfare, and dignity of all Liberian students in China, while fostering unity, academic excellence, leadership, and cultural pride, but also, to ensure LSUIC remains a model student union that champions Liberian students' interests, promotes cross-cultural exchange, and contributes meaningfully to national development through education. In line with this, the NEC is committed to promoting the academic, social, and general welfare of its members.

The 16th National President

President Bloh

The National President, Hon. Olano Teah Bloh, in consultation with the NEC, has appointed 12 provincial coordinators to initiate the 6th Council's operations and establish provincial leadership. In the coming days, the appointment of city presidents and committees, including the Judicial Board, will begin. These steps aim to strengthen ties between Liberian students and the Liberian government through the Embassy of Liberia in China. The 2025 students' welcome program is of top priority.

The Nanjing 2025 general conference, dubbed Nanjing Renaissance, was a memorable occasion. The general conference is when leaders and members join hands for the progress of the Union. Scholars from across China met in Nanjing to address students' grievances and promote cultural activities. LSUIC continues to stand as a pillar of support, advocacy, and unity for every Liberian student in China. The TLI gatherings played a vital role in making the students' experience truly remarkable.

Nanjing 2025 Conference Delegates

The Liberian Student Union in China (LSUIC) is the premier organization representing Liberian students pursuing academic excellence in the People’s Republic of China. Established in July 2006 and governed by a constitution last amended in 2020, LSUIC serves as a unifying body that fosters academic collaboration, cultural exchange, and mutual support among Liberian students across Chinese universities. With a strong commitment to transparency, accountability, and student empowerment, LSUIC operates through a formal national leadership, regional chapters, and ad-hoc committees, ensuring representation at all levels of student participation in China. The Union upholds values of democracy, justice, and participatory inclusiveness, and actively engages with partner student unions, educational institutions, and the global Liberian diaspora in creating opportunities for intellectual development and transformative leadership. From hosting national conferences and leadership workshops to addressing students’ grievances and promoting cultural activities, LSUIC stands as a pillar of support, advocacy, and unity for every Liberian student in China. Our motto, “Excellence through Hard Work,” reflects our dedication to discipline, perseverance, and collective progress.

The National Vice President: T-Visa & The CoC

The National Vice President presented a comprehensive report on August 8, 2025, addressing two key areas: student visa matters and provincial leadership coordination. The report emphasized the Union’s commitment to student welfare, strong representation, and institutional continuity, calling for unity and engagement among members. Students' Visa Matters: Significant progress and challenges were noted in student visa extensions. Since July 29, over 15 students have sought assistance for the T. Visa extension process, with two students completing their extensions. However, nine students from Nantong face a complex situation requiring coordination between the Embassy and the Nanjing Head Office Security Bureau. Provincial Leadership: The report highlighted successful elections in Shanghai, along with the appointment of 14 provincial coordinators by the National President in consultation with the NEC. These coordinators will oversee council operations and city president appointments. The Council of Coordinators (CoC), now comprising 16 members, is set to hold its first sitting next week. The report underscored the Union’s dedication to transparency and collective effort, urging members to remain informed and united in advancing their shared goals. The updates reflect ongoing efforts to address student needs and strengthen organizational frameworks nationwide.

My Nanjing 2025 Conference Story

Buckle up, because the LSUIC Nanjing 2025 Conference was an absolute vibe, a whirlwind of good energy, epic connections, and pure Liberian flair! On July 24, 2025. I hopped out of my place, buzzing with excitement, ready to dive into the biggest, boldest gathering of the Liberian Student Union in China. This wasn’t just any conference; it was a record-breaking, soul-lifting, high-energy bash that had everyone hyped! As an executive member, I rolled up to the hotel with my game face on, checking in delegates like a pro and playing matchmaker to spark new friendships and networking gold. The vibe was electric, strangers became instant pals, and the air was thick with anticipation. That first night, we took over Hohai University for a meet-and-greet that was straight-up magical. Picture this: reconnecting with old friends I had not seen in forever, vibing with new faces and laying the groundwork for future collabs, all while soaking in the warm, welcoming energy. We laughed, played goofy games, belted out songs like nobody was watching, and devoured mouthwatering Liberian dishes that had us all begging for seconds. Day 1? Oh, it was a showstopper! As the acting outgoing financial secretary, I had to present the organization’s annual report, talk about a wild ride! I’d only been in the role for seven days, so my nerves were doing a little dance, but I nailed it with confidence and swagger.

Then came the elections, and let me tell you, the crowd was lit! When the votes were counted, I snagged the financial secretary position again with a clean sweep: 72 out of 72 votes! Cue the confetti and celebratory screams! That evening, we hit up the Nanjing Eye for some breathtaking sightseeing, soaking in the city’s glow. But the night didn’t stop there, we partied hard into the wee hours, hyping ourselves up for Liberia’s Independence Day celebration and the inauguration ceremony the next day. This conference? Hands down, my favorite yet. It was a kaleidoscope of joy, making new friends, sneaking 2 a.m. snacks, playfully raiding rooms for extra drinks (you know how it goes!), and celebrating my election win with my crew. Reuniting with my sisters after a year apart was a pure heart-melt. Road-tripping with my family and friends, helping folks solve problems, and ensuring everyone was riding the same high vibe made it unforgettable. Every moment was a burst of connection, laughter, and love. I’m already counting down the days to next year’s conference in Jinan city. It’s gonna be another bombastic adventure, and I’m ready to bring the spice and good vibes all over again!

The NEC Leadership Workshop

The NEC is gearing up for an Upcoming leadership workshop, a first-of-its-kind endeavor in the union's history. This leadership workshop is designed for all leaders of the Liberian Students' Union in China (LSUC), empowering them with essential skills in leadership ethics, effective communication, emotional intelligence, and Time management. Through this transformative engagement with some case studies and collaborative discussions, participants will enhance their ability to lead with vision, foster unity, and drive impactful initiatives. The anticipated event focuses on conflict resolution, leaders' commitment, and organizational management, equipping LSUC leaders to navigate challenges and inspire positive change within the Liberian Student Union in China.

The 6th COC Set to Elect New Leaders

On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, the 6th Council of Coordinators (COC), one of the strategic arms of LSUIC known as the House of Legislature, will convene its first sitting, including the election of key leaders: Senior Coordinator, Deputy Senior Coordinator, and Coordinating Secretary. As enshrined in Article 15 of the LSUIC 2020 Amended Constitution, the COC ensures inclusive representation, effective coordination, and provincial balance. This pivotal session is a symbolic display of a new chapter in promoting transparency, unity, and progressive leadership within LSUIC. These new code of officers when elected, will lead the council for the fiscal year of 2025-2026. By strengthening leadership capacity and accountability, this ensures a more cohesive and progressive student union.

The National Executive Committee of LSUIC has taken bold steps to enhance its digital presence, ensuring unified communication and wider outreach. The website has been resuscitated since its closure in 2023, which will serve as the central hub for updates, while the official Facebook account has been successfully recovered to re-establish engagement. Dedicated Zoom, Yahoo, and Gmail accounts are also on track to facilitate efficient communications. Looking ahead, plans are in motion to establish LSUIC’s presence on LinkedIn, Instagram, and other social and professional platforms, ensuring vibrant and interactive spaces for members, veterans, partners, and others. These initiatives underscore the NEC's commitment to innovation, transparency, and stronger connectivity in the digital age.

A Call for Inclusive & Participatory Governance

In line with our commitment to leadership-to-the-people, good governance, inclusivity, and decentralization, the National Executive Committee (NEC), through the office of the National President, seeks to ensure that all cities and provinces are actively represented in the Union’s decision-making processes. Given the limited number of elected leaders currently available for the CoC and city leadership, the NEC recognizes the urgent need to ensure full representation across all cities and provinces. Per the Independent Elections Commission (IEC) report, the following leaders were duly elected before the General Conference in Nanjing: Hon. Andrew Nasa Thomason (Beijing), Hon. Emmanuel Garjay Junius (Wuhan), Hon. Enoch B. Quaye (Jinan), Hon. Prince Y. Saydee (Xuzhou), Hon. Sumoewuo Fredrick Gayflor (Suzhou). The NEC recognizes the urgent need to ensure full representation across all cities and provinces. Call to Action: To uphold our principles of participatory governance, all cities and provinces that did not conduct elections are hereby directed to take any of the following steps within one week from the date of this notice in deciding who to represent them at the National level: Collectively Appoint, Select, or Elect a City President and/or Provincial Coordinator. For guidance, contact the National President. A dedicated person will be assigned to help with the process, if needed/necessary. Those who will participate in the appointment, selection, or election should sign the document that will be sent to the National President as a testament of said decision. Thereafter, submit an official communication to the Office of the National President for formal incorporation/appointment in exercising his constitutional duty. Non-Compliance: Cities or provinces that fail to meet this deadline will have their leadership appointments made by the National President in consultation with the NEC, following constitutional provisions. A Unified Path Forward: This is a pivotal opportunity for every city and province to put forward leaders who genuinely represent their interests and are committed to driving progress at both local and national levels. Let us work together to strengthen our Union through transparent, inclusive, and collective decision-making.

Upcoming August 24 Celebration

The Liberian Embassy, BULS and LSUIC are planning to celebrate the National Flag Day of Liberia. The program will be held in Beijing for a day. It will showcase talents, culture, sports and diplomacy.

NEC Appointments

The National President, in consultation with the NEC, has appointed 13 provincial coordinators to start the workings of the Council and provincial leadership. In the coming days, city presidents’ appointment will begin.

Based on constitutional provisions (Article 36) for the proper turnover of all LSUIC assets from the past leadership, the NEC, after a week and a grace period of another week, called for a general meeting with all the Students to inform them of what had been turned over. The purpose of the meeting was to provide a briefing on what had been received from the previous leadership. Hon. Bloh, Hon. Harmon, and Hon. Bonah indicated that they didn’t receive any documents during the turnover from the past leadership. Hon. Willie II mentioned receiving an instruction note instead of a signed turnover note. Some login details were missing or inaccessible. Needed administrative rights for certain platforms. The discussion highlighted concerns about the completeness and accuracy of the turnover process.

The Liberian Embassy in China, the Beijing Union of Liberian Students, and the National Leadership of the Liberian Students Union in China - LSUIC are collaborating to host the National Flag Day program on August 24 in Beijing. This is a powerful reminder of Liberia’s independence, resilience, and unity. As students abroad, celebrating this day connects you to your roots, strengthens national pride, and honors the sacrifices of our ancestors. The Liberian flag symbolizes freedom, identity, and hope for the future. The day fosters patriotism, educates citizens on Liberia’s history, and strengthens cultural identity. By attending Flag Day events, you keep our culture alive, build bonds with fellow Liberians, and inspire progress. Let’s come together to celebrate our heritage, showcase Liberia’s spirit, and pave the way for a brighter tomorrow. Long Live Liberia!
